Lady Gaga was planning to perform with Michael Jackson

The singer was supposed to open for the King of Pop before his death.

Singer Lady Gaga confided that she was the opening act of some shows on Michael Jackson’s This Is It tour, Orange News reports. The tour never took place as the King of Pop died before it started.

Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009, only a few weeks before the 50-concert tour was supposed to kick off at O2 stadium in London.

Gaga revealed she was one of the artists who accepted to open some shows and she was hoping to have the chance to sing on stage with Jackson.

During an interview on Larry King Live, she said, "I was actually asked to open for Michael on his tour. We were going to open for him at the O2 and we were working on making it happen. I believe there was some talk about lots of the openers doing duets with Michael on stage."

Jackson’s untimely death put an end to the project. Gaga added: "But Michael’s death was devastating for me regardless of whether or not I was supposed to go on tour with him. He’s such an inspiration and a remarkable human being."

Lady Gaga also wants to leave her mark on the music industry. She is currently working on a new album that she wants to be memorable.

She gave an interview live on SHOWstudio.com and said, "This new album is my chance to create what in 20 years will be seen as my iconic moment. That’s what you should always aim at."
