Courtney Love receives a serious offer

Kurt Cobain’s widow gets an offer of $165 million to unload her share of Nirvana’s catalogue.

When Nirvana lead singer and frontman Kurt Cobain committed suicide in 1994, his share of Nirvana’s catalogue went to his wife, the always controversial Courtney Love. She embarked on a solo career the same year as the death of her illustrious husband.

Love’s part of the catalogue would guarantee her a considerable sum of money from here to eternity. However, Love herself has admitted that some people have taken advantage of her in the past and stolen money from her.

Courtney Love is convinced the money is cursed. She recently announced she was going to sell her share of the catalogue for emotional, not financial reasons. She wants to make a clean break from the past and from her association as Kurt Cobain’s widow.

In 2006, Love sold a 25% first share of the royalties that she held for nearly $50 million. The 75% that remains could very well earn her more than $165 million. The investment firm Evergreen Capital made Love this tempting offer. She has not yet announced whether she will accept or decline.
