Orlando Bloom will play the Duke of Buckingham

It’s now official, Orlando Bloom will star in The Three Musketeers 3D.

Variety confirms that Orlando Bloom signed a deal to play the Duke of Buckingham in The Three Musketeers 3D by director Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil).

He joins Milla Jovovich (Milady de Winter), Christoph Waltz (Cardinal de Richelieu), Mads Mikkelsen (Rochefort) and James Corden (Planchet). The musketeers will be played by Logan Lerman (D’Artagnan), Luke Evans (Athos), Ray Stevenson (Porthos) and Matthew Macfadyen (Aramis).

Summit Entertainment would like to release the film in 2011.

Another The Three Musketeers film, directed by Doug Liman (Fair Game, Jumper), is also in the works by Warner Bros. Few details on that project have been released so far.

Orlando Bloom also stars in the dramatic comedy Sympathy for Delicious with Mark Ruffalo and Juliette Lewis, as well as in the drama Main Street along with Colin Firth. No release date has been announced yet for either film.
