Arcade Fire gives fans what they want

Listen to an excerpt of two new Arcade fire songs on their website.

Montreal band Arcade Fire came up with a unique way of letting fans listen to excerpts of two new songs. The songs are from their new album being released later this year.

The tracks The Suburbs and Month of May are on Arcade Fire’s website in an original Flash application. Fans have to put their mouse on the image of a vinyl record. Spin the record and hear the 15-second excerpt. Click on the song Month of May and the album flips over so fans can listen to side B. You have to keep spinning the record to keep the music playing.

The songs will be launched as a 12" vinyl on June 1.

Arcade Fire will perform at the Festival d’été de Québec on July 12 on the Plains of Abraham, the next day at Ottawa’s Bluesfest and on July 31 at Montreal’s Osheaga Festival.

The band’s 2004 album Funeral was named the number one album of the decade by Billboard critics. It is also in the top ten on lists by Rolling Stone and NME.
