High chair recall

Age Design Kids recalls its HiLo ‘evolving’  high chair.

The Age Design Kids company recalls 1,400 HiLo ‘evolving’ high chairs sold in Canada between September 2008 and April 2010.

Health Canada outlines the recall on its website. It states: "Only chairs with a date of manufacture before April 1, 2010 are included. The date of manufacture can be found under the rotation mechanism on each side of the chair."

The chair is for children aged six months to six years. It is adjustable to two heights, has a removable tray with a locking system, and a wooden base. The two back legs of the chair have wheels.

The problem is that if the child is not properly attached or the safety belt is not adjusted properly, the little one can reach the tray with his teeth. The space between the upper and lower parts of the tray is large enough to pinch the child’s teeth. If this happens, do not pull on the tray, because the child could lose teeth.

Two incidents have been reported in Canada where a child lost teeth.
