Botox creates nostril wrinkles

While Botox erases wrinkles you have, it can also cause new ones to emerge.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology says that Botox promotes the formation of new wrinkles on the face.

People are opting for Botox to erase wrinkles on the forehead, those above the lip or legs, or laugh lines around the eyes.

Botox paralyzes muscles which are then unable to form an expression. Other surrounding muscles therefore compensate and new wrinkles appear. Often, they appear across the bridge of the nose.

Some celebrities like Dannii Minogue and Amanda Holden have these new kinds of wrinkles, dubbed bunny lines. The lines emerge after getting Botox injections between the eyebrows.

Some doctors have been talking about this for years. Dr. David Becker from the Weill Cornell School of Medicine in New York says: "Paralysis of a set of muscles might lead to recruitment of other muscle groups in an attempt to reproduce the conditioned activity being blocked – resulting in more prominent muscle activity in adjacent regions."

According to several people, these less severe wrinkles can be prevented by injections across the bridge of the nose. All agree that Botox is still safe and very effective.
