Take a spin over to Gilles-Villeneuve Museum

The museum is holding its annual open door days on May 8 and 9.

Gilles-Villeneuve Museum in Berthierville is ready to kick off its official 2010 season with an annual tradition. This year it is holding its open door days on May 8 and 9. Fans of F1 champion  Gilles Villeneuve and racing in general can visit the museum for free on these days.

For 2010, the museum opens an innovative new section called Mécanik. This interactive exhibition will lead visitors on a tour to discover the hidden side of racing. The exhibition is aimed at the general public and not just experts.

The Gilles Villeneuve Museum continues to maintain its funding activities to keep the memory of Villeneuve alive. He died in Zolder, Belgium in 1982. People can choose between being a sponsor, partner or friend of the museum. There’s also a contest for a chance to win a toolbox or one of two driving lessons at the Jacques Villeneuve Academy at ICAR (International Club Academy Racing) in Mirabel.

The first day of the open door weekend this year coincides with the 28th anniversary of Gilles Villeneuve’s tragic accident.
