Canadian indie rockers find a muse

The Toronto group will open for Muse on some North American tour dates.

Good news for Metric and their growing fan base. British band Muse is heading to this side of the pond in the fall for a North American tour. The band asked the Toronto indie rockers to open their last nine shows, including one in Quebec City on October 21.

That show is the only one scheduled in Canada so far. On April 12, Metric performed at the Imperial in Quebec City before a packed crowd.

Metric is making a name for itself and getting more mainstream attention since it won two Juno awards during the ceremony in St. John’s, Newfoundland earlier this month.  The band picked up the Group of the Year award as well as Alternative Album of the Year for Fantasies.

Singer/keyboardist Emily Haines assured fans the group would not stray from their indie roots now that they are winning mainstream awards. She said,  "I think there’s no fear in anyone’s hearts that Metric is anywhere near well behaved enough to become an institution. We’re always going to be troublemakers."

On top of that Quebec City show, Metric is also scheduled to be the opening act at Muse concerts in Uniondale, Newark, Raleigh, Charlottesville, Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbus and Cincinnati. They are along for the ride from October 21 until November 6. What an excellent opportunity to reach out to fans south of the border.
