Paul McCartney didn’t want to do it

Sir Paul McCartney thinks a Beatles reunion was a bad idea.

Orange News reports that singer Paul McCartney is happy the Beatles never got back together because he believes it could have ruined their legacy.

The popular group considered getting back together for a reunion after they called it quits in 1970. The subject kept coming up every now and then until John Lennon’s death 12 years later.

McCartney believes the Fab Four are lucky they never got back together or returned to the studio. He says that a reunion could have destroyed the image they built together.

He said, "There was a bit of talk of The Beatles at certain points. What used to happen was three of us would fancy it and then maybe George or John or I wouldn’t. In a way it was a blessing. We’d done it, why spoil it? Whether it’s god given or not those four people was a pretty good mix."

Paul McCartney launched a successful solo career following the Beatles’ break up. He has a mini-tour planned for 2010 which includes a bunch of summer festivals.

You might say that this tour news is a good thing. But some suspicious sorts think it is more like a goodbye tour even though Sir Paul himself refuses to confirm or deny the rumour.
