Long associated with luxury clothing and perfume, designer Giorgio Armani adds another feather to his cap with the opening of the first Armani hotel in the world. Not surprisingly, the hotel is located in Dubai, a land of idleness and excessive luxury that constantly seeks to push the boundaries.
The grand opening took place today, Tuesday, April 27, and the designer was on hand to witness the ceremony. It was scheduled to open last week but a lot of celebrities could not make the trip due to the ash cloud that shut down a lot of European airspace and caused air traffic chaos.
The Armani Hotel Dubai is a 160-room establishment and was built according to the Giorgio Armani’s specifications. He wanted visitors to enjoy a comfortable and luxurious experience.
"I wanted something very important, something to be remembered," Armani said, dressed in a dark T-shirt and white trousers. "Something not just for the present, but beyond."
The hotel was built in collaboration between Giorgio Armani and Emaar Properties, the same company that built the Burj Khalifa. This is the tallest tower in the world at 828 metres and houses the Armani Hotel Dubai. There are plans in the works to open a second hotel in Milan.
