Ireland shows off its leprechauns

A museum in Dublin is dedicated to those small creatures known as leprechauns.

Northern Europe has its elves, Norway has its goblins and Ireland has its leprechauns. This is an important part of Irish mythology. Leprechauns are so ingrained in the Irish imagination that a new museum was inaugurated in the Irish city devoted entirely to the little creatures.

The National Leprechaun Museum has been open since March in the heart of Dublin. The museum wants to introduce you to the history of leprechauns.

The museum’s website invites visitors to "Discover what lies behind the tales of leprechauns, rainbows and pots of gold. Rediscover the magic beneath your feet, the mischief in the air and the ancient stories in hidden places. This engaging experience will take you to the end of the rainbow and back – but don’t expect to return quite the same!"

The museum’s magical environment consists of forests and magnificent landscapes where rumour has it these mythical creatures often frolic. This is a golden opportunity to explore the great history of this little creature.
