Rock on Ola

Slash dedicates his album to his biggest fan, his mother.

Guitarist Slash dedicated his new solo album to his late mother. Starpulse.com reports she lost her battle with cancer while he was working on the album.

The former Guns N’ Roses guitarist headed into the studio last year to record his album, a collaboration with many well-known artists. At the same time, he was going through a very difficult time on the home front as his mother, Ola, was admitted to hospital.

Ola passed away last August and Slash says he did not want the tragedy to affect his work because his mom really wanted him to finish this album.

He says, "My mom was my biggest fan. She was so supportive. I think she was relieved when I picked up a guitar when I was a kid because I was a real hell-raiser. This record is dedicated to her as her illness was going on at the same time as I was making it – and I know how much she wanted me to finish it."

Slash’s eponymous album will be released on May 10.
