Paul McCartney says goodbye to EMI

Another big name leaves the EMI stable for greener pastures.

EMI record company watches another one of its big stars pack up their catalogue and leave. This time a really big fish got away.

Sir Paul McCartney released his last two albums with California-based Concord Music Group. He decided to bring his entire solo catalogue there too after ending his relationship with EMI.

Over the past few years, The Rolling Stones, Radiohead and even Pink Floyd have regained control of their catalogue and said adios to EMI.

Paul McCartney explained his decision to leave EMI was based on a "good working relationship" with Concord Music founded on their "mutual love of music."

Concord released the superstar’s Memory Almost Full album in 2007 and Good Evening New York City in 2009, a CD/DVD of his New York show.

McCartney described the new deal by saying: "I’m always looking for new ways and opportunities to get my music to people."

The new deal will see Concord physically and digitally distribute Paul McCartney’s post-Beatles’ albums. It will release his albums one by one with new bonus material on each. Band on the Run, which came out in 1973, will be the first oldie released this August.
