Promoting early childhood development in Quebec

Avenir d’enfants supports projects that help children grow and develop.

The president of the Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation, Claude Chagnon, along with Minister of Families Tony Tomassi announced the launch of Avenir d’enfants.

Groups and individuals working in the early childhood milieu can now submit their project through the organization’s website. These projects must promote the overall development of poor children under five years to give them a good start in life.

The organization will support and accompany projects submitted by local communities involved.

Avenir d’enfants is a non-profit organization. It will administer a $400 million fund over 10 years contributed by the Quebec government and the Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation.

Line Bérubé is chair of the board of directors of Avenir d’enfants. She comments, "Avenir d’enfants is the result of a promising partnership. It is a wonderful achievement that this fund has been set up to support communities that want to become involved in a collective movement that is centred on a common vision and goals in order to encourage the development and educational success of young children."
