New vintage sunglasses

Persol launches a capsule collection of sunglasses inspired by 1960s cinema.

Persol wants to pay tribute to the 1960s. It is celebrating the 50th anniversary of La Dolce Vita by Federico Fellini by creating two new pairs of sunglasses for men and women.

The brand’s website says: "The cinema has always been in Persol’s DNA. Since the 1960s, Persol models have featured many times in some of the keynote films of Italian cinema. Persol eyewear has been the personal choice of many unforgettable artists of the silver screen and international celebrities."

Steve McQueen wore Persols on and off the screen. His character wore a pair in the classic movies Thomas Crown Affair (1968) and The Getaway (1972).

The Italian house’s new collection, Persol Vintage, evokes the look of Rome in the 1960s.

The female model has cat-shaped eyes while the male model has rounded contours. The sunglasses are available in two classic colours, black or tan.

Persol Vintage sunglasses will be available in mid-May in some of the brand’s optician branches.
