There will be no Relapse 2

Eminem will not be releasing Relapse 2.

Promises, promises. Eminem promised to quickly drop a follow-up to his album, Relapse, which came out in May 2009. Now he has decided to go in a different musical direction.

This change in direction means that Eminem wants to start from scratch and get rid of all the work that has already been done on Relapse 2. Instead of finishing this and getting it out to fans, the Detroit rapper decided to end this artistic chapter and move on to something new.

The decision to not release this new album could be related to the fact that Dr. Dre, his longtime collaborator, is finally releasing Detox, his first solo album in over 10 years.

Eminem would not elaborate on his new influences. Fans who are disappointed to see Relapse 2 not landing in stores will still have the chance to get their hands on Relapse Refill, an enhanced version of Relapse that has extra tracks. This album just hit record shelves.
