Gucci for kids

Gucci will launch a children’s clothing collection this summer.

Gucci creative director Frida Giannini revealed that the fashion house will launch a children’s clothing collection in June.

Giannini made this announcement while visiting Singapore for the reopening of the Gucci boutique at the Paragon Mall on Orchard Road.

While Gucci is seen as an expensive label, the president and CEO of the company wants to promote it as an everyday brand.

The first line will be unveiled in Italy and then hit around 40 stores worldwide.

The fashion house’s creative director was also in the city-state to have an orchid named after her. The orchid is white with fuchsia tips and is called the Paravanda Frida.

FemaleFirst reports she was very honoured. She said, "It was very touching and I loved the thought that the orchid will still be there a few hundred years from now. I have never experienced such an honour before."

The orchid was the inspiration for 88 limited edition Boston bags which Frida Giannini exclusively designed for Singapore to benefit the children’s charity Mainly I Love Kids (MILK).

The Paravanda Frida bags were white and pink and sold out within a month of their launch in February.
