Singer Carla Bruni calls rumours that suggest her marriage with French President Nicolas Sarkozy is on the rocks "insignificant" and "unpleasant".
The health of Bruni and Sarkozy’s marriage was called into question by the media last month. There have been reports circulating that both husband and wife are having extramarital affairs.

Bruni decided to challenge the rumours head on. She gave a radio interview saying, "I have come to prevent this affair which has no importance from growing into proportions which I find ridiculous … these rumours are insignificant for myself and my husband. I am very close to him. (His) concern is the French and France."
Carla Bruni adds that she and her husband have decided not to focus on the rumours any more. She said, "There is no plot, there is no vengeance, it doesn’t concern us and we’ve turned the page some time ago."
