Illness forces Whitney Houston to cancel shows

Singer Whitney Houston has a respiratory infection.

Whitney Houston is one of the best American voices of the last few decades. She is presently suffering from a respiratory infection so severe that she had to cancel some shows on her European tour. The concerts have been rescheduled for a later date.

The singer was already forced to cancel a show last night (April 6) in Paris. Now Whitney Houston has postponed two more shows in Manchester, England that were supposed to take place Thursday and Friday (April 8 and 9). The shows are rescheduled for June 16 and 17.

She also cancelled a show on Sunday (April 11) in Glasgow, Scotland. May 1st was immediately announced as the rescheduled date.

The singer received some negative reviews after recent concerts in Australia. Fans and critics complained her voice could not reach all the high notes that have made her a world famous superstar. She appeared out of breath during these shows and some fans were disappointed with her  performance.

She released a comeback album last year. I Look To You was her first album release in seven years.

Whitney Houston is now 46 years old. She was one of the biggest selling artists of the 1980s and 90s. Her first two albums each sold more than 10 million copies.
