Collider reports that actor Ryan Reynolds has joined the cast of the film R.I.P.D.
In this film adaptation of the comic book of the same name, Reynolds will play the title role of a recently deceased police officer who joins the Rest In Peace Department. The other title role has not yet been cast.
Producer Neil H. Moritz tells Collider, "He’ll be teamed with somebody. It’s a fantastic relationship between a cop who’s recently died who would do anything to get back to his wife. And a gunslinger who died hundreds of years ago who has seen it all and is jaded by it all and it’s the two of these guys together and it’s the relationship between these two guys that is absolutely fantastic."
Shooting begins in January 2011.
In the meantime, Ryan Reynolds is currently finishing work on another comic book-turned-movie, Green Lantern. That film also stars Mark Strong, Blake Lively and Tim Robbins and hits theatres on June 17, 2011.
Reynolds will then start work on Deadpool, based on his character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Fans will also be able to see the actor on the big screen in the thriller Buried coming out on October 8.
