Janet Jackson is not turning her back on music

Janet Jackson is not ending her music career even if she wants to make more movies.

Starpulse reports that Janet Jackson denied rumours she is abandoning her music career. She says she loves music too much to quit singing.

The singer had a difficult comeback in 2008 following the launch of her tenth studio album, Discipline. It was not as successful as some of her previous albums.

After the album release came the Rock Withchu tour that experienced several problems along the way. Health problems forced the singer to cancel seven shows in the United States and Canada. Her Japanese tour was cancelled due to the economic crisis.

Rumours began to circulate that Jackson would not create any more new material in order to concentrate on her film career.

The star insists that her music career is far from over. She says, "I read somewhere that I’m not planning to make more albums; that’s not true. I love singing and performing too much to give them up. Right now I’ve got a couple more films I may do, and the festival. Then I’ll figure out whether to go with a major or do something more independent."

Janet Jackson is one of the headliners at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans in July.
