Stella McCartney dresses kids again

Stella McCartney launches a second collection for Gap Kids.

British designer Stella McCartney decided to continue her collaboration with American label Gap Kids.

McCartney created a new collection for the Spring 2010 season. It offers country-inspired clothing and accessories in pastel colours for both girls and boys from babies up to age 13.

She originally planned this to be a one-time collaboration with Gap. Her debut collection for the Winter 2009 season was extremely popular. One of the best sellers was the Miller Naval jacket, named after her son, Miller Alasdhair James Willis.

McCartney admits she was really inspired by her three kids during the process of creating this new collection. She told Style.com," I don’t see how you can design children’s wear without having children, actually. There are so many elements once you have kids that become critical as far as what you need out of clothes for them: You need them to have a shelf life that’s much longer, they need to be very wearable and very durable, you want to have stuff that’s comfortable but also has a personality."

The designer went on to say, "And because the line goes up to 13-year-olds, it’s very important that children like it. It’s not a case of you telling children what they’re wearing, it’s them choosing the clothing as well."

This new collection for Gap Kids by Stella McCartney is already available in New York. It will be available worldwide and online on March 30.
