Producer Jerry Bruckheimer decided to reveal some new details about Captain Jack Sparrow’s next adventures in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
In February, we learned that Ian McShane would be Blackbeard. According to the producer, "We have a new villain, Blackbeard, who’s the nastiest pirate ever. That’s Ian McShane."
We knew that Penelope Cruz was going to join the cast but now learn that she will play Blackbeard’s daughter.
Jerry Bruckheimer told MTV, "She’s the daughter of the bad guy. You can expect a little romance between Captain Jack and the new character that Penelope plays. She brings a lot of humor to it."
The producer also confirmed that actor Geoffrey Rush is coming back as well. He played Captain Barbossa in the first three films.
The cast is not yet complete. Bruckheimer said, "We’re looking for some new kids that’ll be in it. So we’re testing right now." He told fans not to worry and added, "We’re gonna take a whole new direction, but Johnny’s gonna be back as Captain Jack. It’s a continuation of what you saw the last time, he’s searching for the Fountain of Youth."
