Beauty has a pricetag

A new study reveals the average woman will spend more than $10,000 on makeup in her lifetime.

Daily News is reporting that a study by British cosmetic store Superdrug found that most women spend around $13,000 on makeup during their lifetime.

The new study found that a woman with a lifespan of 65 years spends around $180 a year on makeup.

In their lifetime, women spend on average $1,466 on lipstick, $3,120 on mascara and $2,274 on eye shadow. A majority of women refresh their makeup collection around five times a year.

The study also revealed that 70% of women do not leave the house without makeup, such as a lip gloss or cover up. 50% of these women owned up to wearing makeup 24/7.

A little more than 40% of respondents said they would be embarrassed if a friend or work colleague saw them without makeup.

Superdrug beauty director Sara Wolverson said, "It’s no surprise that the cost of all our lipsticks and essential makeup adds up to such a staggering figure. Women use makeup as a tool to boost their confidence and as a way to make themselves feel fashionable and youthful."

3,000 women were involved in the study.
