The Stones keep rolling

The Rolling Stones may record a new album this year.

According to Rolling Stone magazine, the Rolling Stones are denying rumours they are on the verge of retiring.

66-year old guitarist Keith Richards revealed that the group could soon head back into the studio to record a new album.

Richards said the group is doing well but could not comment on the possibility of a tour to accompany any new release.

He mused, "There’s no definite plans, but I can’t (see us) stopping. I wouldn’t be surprised if we did some recording later this year."

He talked about doing a different sort of tour to promote their new work. "I don’t know how the rest of them feel about roadwork at the moment. Maybe we’ll search for a different way for the Stones to go back on the road. Maybe not the football stadiums anymore. Maybe something different. You can’t go around there in lemon-yellow tights forever."

Keith Richards also commented about recent stories that claim he quit drinking. He told Rolling Stone, "Listen, the rumors of my sobriety are greatly exaggerated. And we’ll leave it at that."

One of the Stones’ most pivotal albums, Exile on Main Street, is being reissued on May 18. The album is considered to be one of their best. Three versions are being released with some previously unheard tracks.
