L’Oréal has a new face

L’Oréal asks a former athlete to be the face of its products.

L’Oréal Paris called on former Manchester United soccer player Éric Cantona to become the new face of its skincare line for men. The line is called L’Oréal Paris Men Expert.

The 43-year old former soccer star from Marseilles will represent L’Oréal in some parts of Europe.

Vianney Derville, L’Oréal Paris’ international general manager, says, "He is a [soccer] icon, a socially committed person and a naturally gifted artist. However, it’s his charismatic personality and genuine nature that make him the perfect spokesman for L’Oréal Paris Men Expert, our brand dedicated to male grooming."

This association will be good publicity for the brand. Cantona’s partner, Rachida Brakni, is also a face of L’Oréal.

Cantona joins two actors, Matthew Fox (Lost) and Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy) who are already seen in L’Oréal ads.

The former athlete is currently in a Renault television ad and can be seen on the big screen in the film Ensemble c’est trop.
