Antonio Banderas does it all

Antonio Banderas will play General Gonzalve de Cordoue in Boabdil.

British daily Screen International reports that Antonio Banderas will write, produce and direct the film Boabdil, and take on an acting role too.

Boabdil tells the story of General Gonzalve de Cordoue, played by Banderas, who arranges the surrender of Grenada, the last Muslim stronghold in Spain. It will be filmed in English with an international cast.

Banderas is once again collaborating with Antonio Soler. He co-wrote Banderas’ film Summer Rain that came out in 2006.

The project is still looking for financing. Boabdil will be filmed in the Andalusia region in southern Spain. Banderas is producing the project with his company, Green Moon.

The actor is once again the voice of Puss in Boots in Shrek Forever After. The film hits theatres on May 21. He is also part of the cast of Woody Allen’s next film, You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger. A release date has not been given.

Antonio Banderas is filming a movie right now with director Steven Soderbergh. Knockout also stars Channing Tatum, Ewan McGregor and Michael Douglas. The film will be released in 2011.
