Nic and Ryan go back in time

Nicolas Cage and Ryan Reynolds play prehistoric cavemen.

According to Variety, Nicolas Cage and Ryan Reynolds will voice computer-generated cavemen in the new animated flick The Croods.

DreamWorks Animation says The Croods is "a comedy that pits a prehistoric patriarch (Cage) against a forward-thinking outsider (Reynolds)."

Cage will play Crug. He has to lead his family out of their comfort zone after an earthquake destroys their home. They meet a nomad along the way (Reynolds) who intrigues them with his progressive ways.

The film will be written and directed by Kirk De Micco (Space Chimps) and Chris Sanders (Lilo and Stich).

The movie was developed by Sanders and John Cleese of Monty Python fame.

It will open in theatres on March 30, 2012 in stereoscopic 3D.

Ryan Reynolds will begin filming the Green Lantern in March. That film will be released on June 17, 2011. It will be a busy year for Nic Cage. He has three movies coming out, Season of the Witch on March 19, Kick-Ass on April 16 and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice on July 16.
