Both actor Charlie Sheen and his wife, Brooke Mueller, are in rehab.
Sheen’s publicist issued a statement saying, "As a preventative measure, Charlie Sheen has entered a rehabilitation facility. He will take some time off his series Two and a Half Men."
Sheen is facing charges of menacing, misdemeanour assault and criminal mischief after a Christmas Day fight with his wife.
The statement did not provide a reason for this latest trip to rehab or the type of centre the actor is in. He has previously checked in to centres dealing with drug and alcohol abuse problems.
A source tells People, "Charlie is stressed. He’s tired. The kids are on his mind. Brooke’s on his mind. A lot of things are on his mind. He didn’t want to get a place where he had the urge to get high. He felt like he needed to get away from negative influences around him and clear his head, rest and take a short break."
The couple’s twins are staying with Sheen’s parents, Martin Sheen and his wife, Janet. Mueller’s mother is also helping out.
Shooting of Two and a Half Men has been temporarily suspended.
CBS and the show’s creator released a statement that they "support Charlie Sheen in his decision today to begin voluntary in-patient care at a treatment centre. We wish him nothing but the best as he deals with this personal matter."
