The Hollywood Reporter says British actor Ian McShane is in talks with Walt Disney Pictures to join the cast of the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean.
McShane has starred in films like Death Race and We Are Marshall. He also plays the bad guy on the hit television series Deadwood.
The actor would play Blackbeard, captain of the Queen Anne’s Revenge. He would be joining a star-studded cast. Johnny Depp will be back as Captain Jack Sparrow and Penelope Cruz has signed on as well.
The fourth instalment in the series will be directed by Rob Marshall (Nine, Chicago, Memoirs of a Geisha). Terry Rossio and Ted Elliot have written the script. The story follows Captain Sparrow on his quest to find the Fountain of Youth.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is coming to theatres on May 20, 2011.
Ian McShane stars in the new series The Pillars of the Earth. There are rumours he will also star with Jason Statham and Mickey Rourke in Pretty, Baby, Machine, but nothing has been officially confirmed.
