Zac causes chaos in Australia

Hundreds of screaming fans invade an Australian beach to watch their idol surf.

Zac Efron caused quite a stir yesterday (February 16) when he was spotted on Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia. Hundreds of teenage admirers were on hand to catch a glimpse of the star. They pushed their way onto the sand to watch the actor take a surf lesson.

According to OrangeNews, Efron was participating in a charity event benefiting the One Sight Foundation. He was getting a lesson from Australian surf champs Layne Beachley and Tom Whitaker.

The Learn to Ride surf session was interrupted when the teens arrived to get a look at their idol. A security team erected metal barriers around the beach hoping to contain the crowd. No such luck as the kids burst through and stormed the beach. A dozen bodyguards tried to shield the High Scool Musical heartthrob from the masses of screaming girls. He did manage to finish his lesson and spent a half hour in the water with the pros.
