Legendary singer Lionel Richie is delighted by the engagement news of daughter Nicole Richie and musician Joel Madden, reports People.
The singer says, "My happiness for Nicole and Joel knows no boundaries. They have given me two beautiful grandchildren, Harlow and Sparrow, and have proven to be great parents."
Joel Madden wrote on his Twitter page this week that the couple have been engaged for some time. He thanked their family and friends for not spilling the beans.
Nicole Richie talked about their engagement on the Late Show with David Letterman on Monday night (February 15).
Last October, Nicole Richie denied engagement rumours, saying she would get married one day but it was not in their immediate future. She added that if the kids asked, she would do it.
Lionel Richie gushes, "I am not sure who is luckier, Nicole and Joel to have each other, or me, to have both of them in my life."
Nicole Richie and Joel Madden have been dating since December 2006. They have a girl and a boy together, 2-year old Harlow and 5-month old Sparrow.
