A western for Tarantino

Quentin Tarantino wants to direct a Western set in slavery times.

Quentin Tarantino does not shy away from controversy. This is why he wants to tackle a sensitive issue on the big screen that few want to touch.

According to New York Daily News, Tarantino wants "to do a Western. But rather than set it in Texas, have it in slavery times. With that subject that everybody is afraid to deal with. Let’s shine that light on ourselves. You could do a ponderous history lesson of slaves escaping on the Underground Railroad. Or, you could make a movie that would be exciting. Do it as an adventure. A spaghetti Western that takes place during that time. And I would call it ‘A Southern.’"

Quentin Tarantino has always made films that push the envelope from Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill to his most recent work, Inglourious Basterds.

In the same interview, he talks about the third instalment of Kill Bill. He is writing it now but doesn’t think it will happen before 2014. We know that Uma Thurman will return in the leading role.

Tarantino is one of the producers of Machete, starring Danny Terjo, Jessica Alba and Robert DeNiro. It opens on April 16.
