Morcheeba back together

The English trip-hop group brings Skye Edwards back into the fold.

The soothing voice of Morcheeba we heard on the group’s first four albums is back with the Godfrey brothers, the group’s only other original members. Several people took a turn at the mike after artistic differences caused them to ask Edwards to leave in 2003.

Skye Edwards announced the news of her return to Morcheeba on MySpace, "I’ve been Keeping Secrets, and it’s time to come clean and let you know that there is to be a Morcheeba Reunion!"

The group returns to the stage in Switzerland on April 9 to participate in the Caprices festival. They are seriously thinking about going on tour.

Edwards’ return is surprising considering she was kicked out of the band in 2003. "To be honest, my immediate answer was ‘Nope’. A meal was arranged for the three of us. We met up in a restaurant called Julies. I got there early and ordered a double whisky whilst I waited for the Godfrey brothers to arrive. I was sooo nervous. We got pretty drunk that night and had a laugh. It was cool. And so it was agreed, let’s make another Morcheeba record. Let’s do some shows!!"

In the 90s, Morcheeba’s first two albums sold millions of copies, riding the trip-hop wave of bands like Portishead and Massive Attack.
