Peter Gabriel has no word from Radiohead

Peter Gabriel wonders if Radiohead likes the cover he did of their song.

Peter Gabriel did a cover of Radiohead’s Street Spirit (Fade Out) on his Scratch My Back album coming out in March. He now thinks they may not have liked his interpretation of the song.

The singer sent the members of Radiohead access to the song so they could listen to it streaming online. This method allowed him to track the number of times the group listened to it.

In an interview with Britain’s The Sun paper, Gabriel says that they have not contacted him since he shared his version with them. Gabriel adds that, based on what he knows, the group has not even listened once to the song.

"I still haven’t had a response from Thom Yorke," he revealed. "He originally wrote to say he wanted to do a version of Wallflower, but I haven’t heard what he thinks of my version of Street Spirit. Not everyone likes it and I’ve no real idea whether he likes it or hates it."

Radiohead singer Thom Yorke agreed to do a cover of Gabriel’s Wallflower. That song would join other covers on the concept album I’ll Scratch Yours that is supposed to be released at the end of this year or beginning of 2011.

There was such demand for tickets to his Montreal concert on April 28 that Peter Gabriel added a second show.
