Rapper Lil Wayne is expected to start a 1-year prison term today.
In 2007, Lil Wayne was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm after a loaded handgun was found on his tour bus. He pleaded guilty to attempted gun ownership and will be formally sentenced today to a year behind bars.
Lil Wayne has been making the most of his last weeks of freedom. He sang at the Grammy Awards with Eminem and Drake. He also participated in the SOS Save OurSelves – Help for Haiti benefit concert hosted by Queen Latifah.
Lil Wayne surprised some observers by choosing to plead guilty to the charges against him.
