Us magazine reports that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are suing Britain’s News of the World tabloid for publishing a story saying they had broken up.
News of the World announced Jolie and Pitt’s separation on January 24. It reported that the actors were in the process of dividing their assets and working out an arrangement for the custody of their six children, Maddox, 8, Pax, 6, Zahara, 5, Shiloh, 3, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 18 months.
The couple’s lawyer, Keith Schilling, says that these allegations are totally false and intrusive. Jolie, Pitt and their lawyer asked for a retraction and an apology but News of the World refused.
The lawyer adds that divorce lawyer Sorrell Trope, identified in the article as advising the couple, has never met them or had any involvement with them.
