New TV show for Matthew Broderick

Matthew Broderick will star in a new sitcom on NBC.

Matthew Broderick is starring in a new situation comedy on NBC. He will soon film the pilot of Beach Lane, set in a posh community in the Hamptons. Broderick will play a celebrity author hired to run a millionaire’s small-town newspaper.

Lorne Michaels is one of the show’s executive producers. The Hollywood Reporter says it was Michaels who approached Broderick to take the role.

The 47-year old actor, father of three children with Sarah Jessica Parker, rarely accepts television roles. He last made a guest appearance on 30 Rock two years ago.

Broderick is well known for his work on Broadway, like in The Producers. He has also been in some film comedies like Inspector Gadget and The Stepford Wives.

He shares the screen with Matt Damon, Anna Paquin, Mark Ruffalo and French actor Jean Reno in the drama Margaret. No release date has been announced.
