700 films for sale, including Pulp Fiction

Disney has decided to sell Miramax Films and its nearly 700-film library.

Brothers Harvey and Bob Weinstein sold their company, Miramax Films, to Disney Studios in 1993. Now Disney has decided to offload the subsidiary and its catalogue of nearly 700 films.

Among the films on the market are such hits as Pulp Fiction, The English Patient, Kill Bill and Shakespeare in Love.

According to the New York Times, seven to ten potential buyers are looking to buy Miramax and its catalogue. The catalogue generates more than $300 million in annual DVD sales and television broadcast rights.

The Weinstein brothers do not want to buy back the company. Despite the success of their latest movie, Inglourious Basterds by Quentin Tarantino, they are in debt with their group, The Weinstein Company.
