Matthew McConaughey chose to unveil the first picture of 3-week old daughter Vida on his official website.
"Here’s a pic of our latest family member Vida Alves McConaughey.Thanks for all your well wishes our way," wrote the actor.
McConaughey also used the website to announce the birth of this second child with girlfriend, Camila Alves. They have a son, Levi Alves McConaughey, born in July 2008.
The actor explained their decision to name the baby Vida, "On Sunday, Jan. 3rd at 12:13am, Camila gave birth to a healthy 7lb. 7oz. baby girl named ‘Vida Alves McConaughey’… ‘Vida’ is Portuguese for ‘life’ and that’s what God gave us this morning."
The actor’s brother, Rooster, says that Matthew cannot contain his pride and is extremely happy to ring in the New Year with his daughter’s birth.
