Britney Spears sells her dress for Haiti

Britney Spears will sell one of her dresses to raise money for disaster relief in Haiti.

Orange News reports that Britney Spears got permission to auction off the dress she wore to the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards. Money raised will be donated to help earthquake victims in Haiti.

During a two-hour meeting in Los Angeles last Friday (January 22) about control of her assets, Spears applied to sell the silver dress and was given the go-ahead.

The court also asked Spears’ guardian, her father Jamie, to clear out clothes and other objects used during her Circus tour.

No other details were released about the meeting and decisions taken to control the singer’s assets.

Jamie Spears has managed his daughter’s personal and financial affairs since 2008. The decision came after the star suffered from a highly publicized depression and had to be hospitalized.

Several stars participated in a telethon last Friday (January 22) organized by George Clooney to benefit Haiti. Called Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief, the telethon raised more than $57 million American, a telethon record.
