Haute couture according to Dior

Dior presented its haute couture collection in Paris yesterday.

NouvelObs reports that some haute couture collections, including John Galliano for Dior, were presented yesterday (January 25) in Paris.

There was some star sightings at the show. Singer Kylie Minogue and designer Pierre Cardin were spotted in the front row. They enjoyed a show which put big ball robes with rich embroidery on display.

The first models appeared with riding crops in hand, small black hats turned sideways and oversized buns covered by a veil. Makeup harked back to the 1960s. They also wore tailored vests with long, ruffled skirts.

Hong Kong actress Maggie Cheung was also on hand for the show. She commented that the lines were incredible and that the variety of colour reminded her of a painter’s palette.

Dior CEO Sydney Toledano said it was still an ultra-feminine collection.

Chanel, Stéphane Rolland, Maurizio Galante, Dominique Sirop and Givenchy are presenting their collections today (January 26) at Paris Fashion Week.

Designers Franck Sorbier and Jean-Paul Gaultier will take to the catwalk on Wednesday (January 27).
