The Who reveals Super Bowl set list

The Who announces the songs they will perform at the Super Bowl.

Since Super Bowl XXXVIII, organizers are a lot more cautious about their choice of star to take to the half-time stage for the most famous 10-15 minute concert of the year. Back in 2004, one of Janet Jackson’s breasts became exposed to over a billion viewers at the end of the half-time show with Justin Timberlake, and has been called Nipplegate ever since.

Rockers Bruce Springsteen, U2, Paul McCartney, Tom Petty and The Rolling Stones followed Janet Jackson. This year it will be The Who, the British band that rose to fame in the 1960s and early 1970s.

The group released the set list they plan to perform at half-time during the 44th Super Bowl. It is being held in Miami on February 7, 2010 and sees the Indianapolis Colts taking on the New Orleans Saints.

Guitarist Pete Townshend promises a medley of their greatest hits, including "a bit of Baba O’Riley, a bit of Pinball Wizard, the end of  Tommy, a bit of Who Are You and a bit of Won’t Get Fooled Again" . In an exclusive interview with Billboard magazine, Townshend says the band "always tried to make music that allows the audience to go a bit wild if they want to. Hopefully it will hit the spot."
