According to the World Entertainment News Network, Robert Downey Jr.and Beyoncé Knowles are the favourites to play the leads in the remake of A Star is Born, directed by Nick Cassavetes (My Sister’s Keeper, The Notebook, John Q).
They are tapped to be the two main characters in this story of a young women who realizes her dream of being a star after meeting actor Norman Maine.
Downey and Knowles would be joined by a supporting cast that includes Jon Hamm, Alicia Keys and Rihanna in her film debut.
This would be the third remake of the film. It was originally released in 1937, directed by William Wellman and starring Janet Gaynon. Judy Garland took on the role in 1954 as did Barbra Streisand in 1976. The latest would hit the big screen in 2012.
You can still catch Robert Downey Jr. in theatres in Sherlock Holmes. He is planning to shoot a film this summer alongside Brad Pitt who will play his nemesis Moriarty. Iron Man 2, also starring Downey, is coming out on May 7.
