Britain’s equivalent of the Grammy Awards, the Brit Awards, will be taking place in London next month. This year’s nominations have been revealed, and it seems that the party is going to be a lady’s night.
Lady Gaga, Lily Allen, Florence and The Machine and Pixie Lott have each received nominations in 3 categories. The only male group to have been given the same opportunities for a trophy is the band JLS.
The Brit Awards honour the British music industry, but also recognize international musicians. Lady Gaga seems to be an overwhelming favourite to be going home with a trophy or two. She has been nominated in three categories for her album, The Fame.
With two nominations each, Dizzee Rascal, Jay-Z, Paolo Nutini, The Roux, Empire of the Sun and Animal Collective will all be hoping for a prize. Jay-Z has already confirmed that he will also be performing at the event.
The Brit Awards will take place on February 16 at London’s Earls Court, and will be hosted by Peter Kay.
