Heroin Takes Down Blur

The addictive drug heroin is to blame for the tense relationship among the members of Blur.

Blur, one of the most popular English groups in the 1990s, broke up in 2003 after years of drug problems.  According to singer Damon Alban, the drug that did the most damage to the band was heroin.

"That whole period (1994-1997) of a lot of people’s lives was fairly muddied by heroin. It’s in that place. A lot of stuff was at that time," revealed the former frontman.  Alban shared his story in a new documentary about the group.

The singer was responsible for the band’s inception and direction, though he was often struggling with fear.  "I was going through hell at that time. I was having panic attacks," he said.

The documentary, entitled No Distance Left To Run, had its premiere yesterday in London, and was attended by the members of Blur.  The DVD arrives in stores on February 15.
