Yoko Ono Takes the Stage After 40-Year Absence

A special concert will be held in New York with the spotlight on Yoko Ono.

One of the most controversial widows in the history of music will be making a comeback on stage for a star-studded show.

On February 16, at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York, Yoko Ono and the Plastic Ono Band will be performing for the first time in 40 years.

Back in the days, the Plastic Ono Band was formed by John Lennon and Yoko Ono as a way for them to release their own material that was not written for the Beatles. Their first song, Give Peace a Chance, was recorded in Montreal’s Queen Elizabeth Hotel during their famous Bed-In for Peace in 1969.

This time, Lennon will obviously not be there, but in addition to Yoko Ono, we will be seeing big names on stage, including Eric Clapton and Klaus Voornam, who were members of the Plastic Ono Band at one point or another. Also joining the trio will be Paul Simon, Bette Midler and Sean Lennon, Ono and John Lennon’s son. Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth are also set to perform, as well as Martha Wainwright, Mark Ronson and the Scissor Sisters.

Last year, Yoko Ono and the Plastic Ono Band made a comeback with the release of Between My Head and the Sky, an album which received high praise from critics.
