Gerard Butler Gets Off Scot-Free

A judge has dropped all charges against Gerard Butler.

In October 2008, the 300 star was accused of assaulting a photographer after the Los Angeles premiere of the film RocknRolla.

The actor was frustrated with the paparazzo who was allegedly after him all night. The photog accused Butler of hitting him in the face several times.

Yesterday (January 5), a judge finally dropped the charges filed against Butler.

Butler had done some community service, but was able to skip a trip to the slammer. If he were found guilty, the actor would have had to serve six months in prison, revealed TMZ.

In August, a man named Fred Varecka accused the star of assaulting one of his greyhounds. However, the case was dropped, since witnesses claimed that the dog attacked Butler’s pug, and Butler was simply trying to separate them.

Butler will begin filming Coriolanus in the spring under the direction of Ralph Fiennes, who will also star in the film. The project was inspired by a William Shakespeare play of the same name. In the meantime, Gerard Butler will be sharing the screen with Jennifer Aniston in The Bounty Hunter, opening March 19.
