The stars’ parents had an unpleasant Christmas gift to give this year. On December 24, television director Stephen Gyllenhaal and film producer Naomi Foner officially pulled the plug on their 32-year marriage, reports TMZ.
The couple also agreed to split up their homes, cars and other possessions.
This comes at a rough time for the broken-hearted Jake Gyllenhaal, who has freshly split with actress Reese Witherspoon. Gyllenhaal allegedly wanted to marry his sweetheart, but the actress didn’t want to get married again.
Witherspoon was once married to actor Ryan Phillippe, with whom she has two children, Ava, 10, and Deacon, 6.
Gyllenhaal and Witherspoon didn’t have the same goals, and the actress was afraid they didn’t have enough in common. Although the actor was great with her kids, the Legally Blonde star reportedly had doubts that her former beau was ready to take on stepfatherhood.
