Ringo Starr Rallies Friends for New Disc

A song featuring Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney will soon be available.

Starr’s next album will have a lot to offer, especially with a duet featuring his Beatle colleague, Paul McCartney. The duet is a first for the two stars since 1998.

The new disc by the Fab Four drummer, titled Y Not, will be on music shelves on January 12, and will include the song Walk With Me. Speaking of the duet, Starr said, "He came over to play bass on another track called ‘Peace Dream,’ and then he heard ‘Walk With Me’ and said ‘I think I have something for this, gimme a pair of cans and I’ll be on the mic.’ And then he just did what he did and enhanced it 100 percent.”

Walk With Me was not originally intended to be a Starr/McCartney collaboration when Van Dyke Parks and Starr wrote it, though it all comes as a pleasant surprise.

Several artists have teamed up for Starr’s new album, including Ben Harper, Joss Stone, Richard Marx and Joe Walsh, guitarist for the Eagles as well as his brother-in-law.
